Oh Please Mister Policeman

•June 25, 2016 • Leave a Comment

This is something I wrote a while ago but after some constructive and very similar criticism that I was given about the end I chose to rewrite it. Initially the way this poem ended was, whilst positive completely unrealistic. The feedback I’ve had basically said the same and rightfully so.

I believe I may have fixed the problem.

Oh Please Mister Policeman

Oh please mister policeman, oh please let me goes.
You’ve bloodied my face and you’ve broken my nose.
I’m all banged to rights, caught me hook line and sinker,
For demanding my rights I was thrown in the clinker.

And the biggest of gangsters, the worst of these frauds,
Are the fat cats and judges, the peers and the lords.
For it might just surprise you when you here me say,
Its these same lying bastards handing over your pay.

So they all call to motion and sanction new laws,
These folk are the worst of the welfare state whores.
Whilst you’re on your knees, begging cap in your hand,
They continue to leech from what should be our land.

The easiest ruled are the easiest scared.
They stripped back the fat and the rod was not spared,
And all the time claiming their god given right,
But the truth is they stole it like thieves in the night.

Please do not succumb to the vast web of lies,
You are, it is clear, working for the bad guys.
Don’t think they’re not watching to keep you in check,
From the second you’re born there’s a leash round your neck.

A contract was written that you never signed,
Government property, body and mind.
You never agreed but you are just a slave,
As you’re born with a debt that will never be paid.

So open your eyes and raise up your voice,
Disregard all the bullshit you still have a choice.
You may be a slave but our number is vast,
This system’s corrupt and it clearly won’t last.

So please mister policeman, please let me go,
Especially now that you know what you know.
He tightened my cuffs and he said with a wink,
You’re in for a treat,

We hang people who think….

The Great Gatsby

I was talking to my 16 year old daughter last night and I just had to share

Me – Tell me Eli, in your own words, what was the great gatsby about?

Daughter – *sighs* Well… Leonardo Dicaprio tries to cope with his repressed homosexual feelings for spiderman set in a 1920’s prohibition New York.

Me – What rating would you give it?

Daughter – 7/10 It was ok, but the continuity sucks as there were no such thing as pool zebras back in the olden days.

It would have only received a 6/10 but after a moments deliberation she gave it an extra point for being quite gay. She also said and I quote
“Had it been more gay then it would have been even better and probably got an 8 or even a 9.

Pure genius

More movie reviews to come I reckon lmao

At the edge of forever,
In the swell of the abyss.
There’s a place that entices you in,
With neon lights flashing.
Come on in, come on in.

You are the fractured soul,
There’s no perfect, there’s no goal,
A shady doorway, way back, out of sight,
Screams “Adults Only”, come in if you dare.
We’re all just waiting for you there.

Don’t forget to come back now.

But next time,
We will already know your name, You’ll be on the guest list…..

lol….

The scream of the breaks.

Yesterday someone jumped onto the tracks,
Then tonight someone did it again.
The scream of the breaks welcomed our newest guest,
As they rode on the front of the train.

Did they look any different from you or from me?
From the moment they’d chosen to die.
Not that you’d tell til you looked very close,
At the pain burning bright in their eyes.

Shooting stars.

I think it so much easier to wish upon a sky,
Infinite the number of those comets passing by,
Whilst few are seen by many, there’s so many never seen.
Passing by unnoticed with the wish they’d never been.

Within.

A darkness dwells within this skin,
But not that anyone would know.
Like all those nasty little sins,
One doesn’t tend to let them show.

The secrets that go to my grave,
The evils that lay in my past.
The things for which I am ashamed,
Kept until I breathe my last.
